This presentation provides an overview of structural CMU masonry inspection and testing, focusing on the requirements of the International Building Code (IBC) and the TMS 402/602 masonry standards. Attendees will learn how to identify inspection and testing requirements within project specifications, understand the role of the special inspector, and review the most common problems and issues encountered during masonry construction. The session will also cover typical testing methods, documentation practices, and lessons learned from the field—equipping participants with practical knowledge to ensure quality and compliance in masonry projects.
Speaker
Jason Allen brings over 30 years of expertise in construction testing and inspection to his role as the North Central Texas CoMET Department Manager at Raba Kistner. A NICET Level IV certified professional, Jason is highly regarded for his leadership in the industry and currently serves as a Director for the TCEL North Central Texas Chapter.
Throughout his career, Jason has overseen inspection and testing programs for a wide variety of projects, including K-12 schools, college campuses, and complex design-build highway projects. His deep knowledge in special inspections, quality assurance, and construction materials testing has earned him the trust of engineers, architects, and contractors.
Outside of work, Jason is passionate about construction testing, martial arts, and spending time with his family—values that reflect his discipline, dedication, and commitment to excellence both personally and professionally.
